ABOUT MARK DAVIES - CHEF ON THYME

Chef On Thyme, personal chef service, was created from chef/owner Mark Davies’ desire to spread his love of gourmet cuisine to those who have forgotten what the family meal time is.

I grew up as a latchkey kid who either had to learn to cook or go hungry until mom came home from work. So I chose to cook! I spent many years watching and tasting my mom and grandmother’s wonderful meals and thought I would love to make people as happy as they do when they sit down to their meals.

While in high school I worked part time jobs in various restaurants around Greenville, North Carolina, then in 1988 I joined the United States Navy and their submarine force as a chef on a nuclear submarine. Immediately after a discharge from the service I enrolled and graduated from Johnson and Wales University’s culinary arts program.

In the past fifteen years since my graduation I have worked in various levels of foodservice from a Saucier, Banquet Chef, Sous Chef to restaurant manager. All this while maintaining my passion of creating palate-pleasing cuisine for friends, family and anyone who would try my new creations. Now I have the avenue to bring my love of great food to the time-pressed public.
